Victor A/S - Company of the month - March 2013
New strategy lifts Victor further
In ten years Victor A/S has gone from being a small company with 10 employees to now being a medium-sized company with a staff of 70 people. During the last years the company has build op a special competence within HVAC for ships and offshore units. And that is precisely what the strategy is all about – to focus on the offshore market, says owner and managing director Ole Nygaard. In our days it is not enough being able to weld two pieces of iron together if you want to survive. There has to be a technological lift. We have to concern ourselves with something that is difficult to do, that means high standards for qualifications, high demands upon delivery and flexibility, says Ole Nygaard.
When the crisis occurred and hit Victor A/S in the middle of the year 2009 the management could choose between two possibilities: reduction or developing the staff. The company chose to develop the employees and to hold on to them, instead of reducing the stab. Of course that has been a challenge and at times the company did not earn as much as planned. But at the end Victor A/S had a top motivated staff that is very aware of the fact that innovation is the key to survive. And Ole Nygaard is very satisfied with this result.
In the light of this positive direction, the mayor of the municipality of Frederikshavn, Lars Møller came to visit the company in the middle of February. The mayor was given an introduction to the company by Ole Nygaard, followed by a guided tour in the production area, where Lars Møller showed his interest by asking many questions.
For the future Victor A/S has already made sure that there is going to be enough space for new employees, because the company moved into a new big office located in the Kattegat Silo at the beginning of 2013. With it there has now been made basis for even more growth, which Ole Nygaard is looking forward to.
At the time of writing Victor A/S is preparing to go to two major exhibitions this spring – CIOOE in Beijing in March and OTC in Houston in May.
So Ole Nygaard is optimistic about the future but he also knows the importance of always being an innovative company – at the end that is the key to survive.
